A Brazilian steakhouse that made its way north to Texas is now expanding west — to Northern California.
The family-owned Texas de Brazil is billed as the largest Brazilian steakhouse brand, with restaurants in 23 states and seven countries. The closest to the Bay Area are three in Southern California (Fresno, Irvine, Carlsbad).
Soon the company will open its first Bay Area location — At The Veranda, the still-growing center along Interstate 680 in Concord.
First you choose a selection of cured meats, cheeses, salads and marinated vegetables at what seems like an endless salad bar. At Texas de Brazil, the 50-item array includes the Brazilian coconut fish stew called moqueca, lobster bisque, spicy shrimp salad, sushi and much more.
Then you sit down to a feast of grilled meats — beef, lamb, chicken — served tableside by wandering waiters. You flip up a card on your table to indicate you’re ready for more.
An opening date has not been announced. Stay tuned for that.
